Why We Exist ?

Genesis :- Indian Society for Rural Development (ISRD) is a multidimensional not for profit voluntary organization established in 1985, working in four Tribal Districts of Odisha state and thus surpassed thirty milestones on the road to service to mankind particularly to the down trodden poverty-stricken tribal living on the lap of nature. Our core philosophy is ‘Parapokaraya Midam Sariram”. In other words, we are destined to materialize Gandhian “Sarvodaya” to our level best.

Indian Society for Rural Development (ISRD) is existed due to fight to promotion, protection, rehabilitation, and child marriage under “The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act (2000, amended in 2015); The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (2006); The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (2012), and The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act 1986” and promote lobby and advocacy for Reintegration & Child Main streaming. We adopt the integrated approach to normalize the situation along with awareness sensitization of stakeholders with interventions of rescue, shelter, restoration etc.

Besides that, ISRD has another reason to exist to facilitate immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services including medical, legal, psychological and counselling support under one roof to fight against any forms of violence against women.

  • Take immediate action on mistakes done during implementing program activities without any additional cost and minimal staff time.
  • Holistic in nature for fulfilling the objectives.

  • Effectiveness of programs with hard work & positive attitude.
  • Adopt simple & easy methods of awareness and sensitization on Women & Child rights policy, role and function.
  • Support governments and policymakers to skill up and upgrade changes in the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act (2000 amended in 2015); the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (2006); the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (2022) and the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act (1986) for development prospective of Children.
  • Build the capacity of other CBOs and Yubak Sanghas and Mahila Samities are to work more effectively
  • Support and provide the village Youth to undergo skill development in sphere of Tailoring, Mobile Repairing, Electronics, Auto driving and livelihood support programs.

Our Mission

To empower people of weaker section of the society namely S.C/S.T with special emphasis on women and children. Socially and economically so, that they can participate in the mainstream of development process on equal footing.

To usher in a just social and economic order in which there will be equality of opportunity for all regardless of race, sex, caste or religion and in which socio-economic justice will prevail.

Our Objectives

  • To organize poor people to be aware of Govt. schemes and privileges meant for them to ascertain their human rights including rights on land, forest and water and assist people and government for the successful implementation of these schemes.
  • To fight against social injustice, exploitation inequality and any form of oppression prevailing in the society and assist poorer section of the society for their socio-economic development and build a healthy and just society.
  • To take up relief activities at the time of natural calamities with assistance of government and non-government organization.
  • To encourage and co-operate the growth of village level institutions of the rural people to take up various developmental programs.
  • To run and arrange training programs for poor, development workers etc
