About Us
The Indian Society for Rural Development (ISRD) is a non-profit organization committed to inclusive development and social justice. Founded in 1986 by Sudhir Sabat, ISRD operates in three tribal districts of Odisha, empowering marginalized communities. Rooted in the Gandhian principle of Sarvodaya—uplifting all—ISRD embraces the Sanskrit ethos ‘Paropakaraya Midam Shariram’, reflecting its deep commitment to serving humanity.

Our Mission & Vision
- Our Mission is to empower people of weaker section of the society namely S.C/S. T with special emphasis on women and children. Socially and economically so, that they can participate in the mainstream of development process on equal footing.
- Our Vision is to usher in a just social and economic order in which there will be equality of opportunity for all regardless of race, sex, caste, or religion and in which socio-economic justice will prevail.

- Our Key Strategy: The components of our strategies are collective analysis of the problems, participatory planning & implementation, and a sustainable approach with process orientation rather than project orientation.
